My Birthday Dinner and Wine Tasting at Hilo Rice Noodle
Casey took me to a wine tasting hosted by Grapes A Wine Store and Hilo Rice Noodle Restaurant for my birthday. We rode a taxi cab to the sold out event and enjoyed unique dishes and sipped on a refreshing selection of reds and whites.
I’ve known the owner, Inmy, of Hilo Rice Noodle for many years. We were coworkers back in our college days at a well known Chinese restaurant called Ting Hao at the Naniloa Hotel. From then on, we’ve been friends to this very day. She was one of my bridesmaids at our wedding 15 years ago and it really means a lot to me that we are still able to have a friendship even in our very busy schedules.
Trip To Ocean View Estates
We took a trip to Ocean View Estates on the south side of the Big Island to meet our friends Greg and Gail Smith, proprietors of Earth Matters farm and vendors of Ho’oulu Farmers Market in Keauhou. Mehana and I had a lesson on how to make kale chips which I will blog about in the near future. Dinner was fabulous: fried ahi with a thyme beurre blanc, some roasted golden beets, lamb stew, and salad greens. Dessert was a Iilikoi cheesecake made from Greg’s mirror twin brother Gordon, chef and author of Save the Males Cookbook.. It was a great evening filled with laughter, cheer, and great food! Also a great play date for the doggies as well! They were running laps around the wrap around deck of the upstairs unit.
Hulali discovered that she can do this:
Lunch with a Friend
As with any great moment, it always comes to an end. But it’s okay because we can always look forward to a new beginning!
